In a recent post I wrote about being one of the winners of the first of the Theo Paphitis Small Business Sundays of 2018.
Well every year he hosts an annual event where all the winners over the past 12 months receive an invite to attend. This year’s SBS Event was held on Friday, 23rd February at the International Conference Centre in Birmingham. It was an event I did not want to miss particularly as it gave me the opportunity to be awarded my certificate by Theo and a photo opportunity to go with it.
The whole day was funded by Theo and sponsors; Rymans, Hewlett Packard, iLaw, Western Union, Robert Dyas, Square, 123 Reg and DHL.
Following registration at 9.00am we had the opportunity to attend short presentations given on various business topics and we chose ones on digital marketing and social media.
At 11.15am Theo came on stage to officially welcome everyone and start the event. He spoke about how SBS came about and what it means to him. He really does have a passion for small businesses and doing all he can to help them succeed. Following on from Theo we were given a talk by Stephen Cheliotis, a leading brand consultant and chairman of Superbrands, about the importance of branding.
Around 1.00pm we broke for lunch, again provided free of charge, and had the chance to network with other winners. At 2.30pm the event resumed with the chance to listen to another motivational ‘fireside chat’ between Theo and John Roberts, the founder of AO.com. He gave a fantastic insight into what makes him tick and how he runs his business.
After listening to Theo giving a closing summary around 4.00pm it was then time to collect our SBS Winners certificates and have a photo with the man himself.
It rounded off such a great day perfectly. Looking forward to attending more SBS events in the future.
